William F. Betsinger, age 66, of Lansing, IA, died Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon, MN following an extended illness. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing, IA with military honors. Visitation will be held at the Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing, IA on Sunday, Oct. 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to services. Local arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. William Fredrick Betsinger, the son of Cletus and Ellen (Clancy) Betsinger, was born on December 19, 1942 in Lansing, IA. He attended Immaculate Conception High School and graduated with the class of 1960. Bill served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 in Korea. Bill was united in marriage to Colleen Cookie. They were later divorced. Bill had worked at various jobs and most recently was working for the past six years at Cabela''s in Prairie du Chien, WI. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed baking, cooking and listening to country western music. He is survived by three children, Sheila Betsinger, Bridgett Betsinger and David Betsinger, all of St. Charles, IL; by two grandchildren; by three brothers, Kenneth (Pam) Betsinger of Faribault, MN, Steve (Kim) Betsinger of Butte, MT and Jeffery Betsinger of St. Charles, IL; by two sisters, Georgia (Ambrose) Murphy of Center Point, IA and Patricia (Glen) Wilson of Geneva, IL; by the mother of their children, Colleen Betsinger and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by five siblings, Rose Johnson, Donald Betsinger, George Betsinger, Robert Betsinger and Mary Hazelwood.
