William A. Steigauf Sr. April 19, 1943 - October 11, 2014

William A. "Bill" Steigauf Sr., age 71 of Faribault, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Reflections Unit of Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault with the Rev. Joy K. Bussert, officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday October 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.

Bill, the son of William and Gladys (Steele) Steigauf, was born on April 19, 1943 in Faribault. He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1962. He was a three sport athlete and excelled at football, basketball and track. After high school, Bill attended Mankato State University. He began a 10-year career with the Faribault Police Department in 1965. In 1975 he started his own business, High-Men Steeplejacks until 1990. He began a 17 year career with St. Olaf College in 1990, working as the college mason and locksmith.

On February 22, 1974 he was united in marriage to Audrey Steffen at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church in Faribault. Bill loved working on projects and took great pleasure in creatively remodeling three cabins of his own along with those of his family in the Emily and Outing, MN area. He loved his time spent there with all of his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling. In the winter, Bill and Audrey spent time in Englewood, Florida, where Bill enjoyed his time ocean fishing. Bill was known to be very competitive in the sports and hobbies he enjoyed. In the years since his retirement began, Bill shared his love for the outdoors and music with his children and grandchildren. All have been touched by his interests and passions.

He is survived by his wife Audrey Steigauf of Faribault; by three children, William

(Christina) Steigauf of Prior Lake, MN, Scott (Carol) Schroeder of Foley, MN and Lynne (Tim) Ellis of Rogers, MN; by five grandchildren, Jessie (Necy) Schroeder, Kristi (Travis) Brown, Abby Ellis, Brianna Steigauf and Austin Steigauf; by his great grandson, Benjamin Brown; by two brothers, his twin, Warren "Bud" (Mary) Steigauf of Farmington, MN and Erle (Debbie) Steigauf of Bemidji, MN and by many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
