Willard 'Willie' Arndt June 15, 1920 - September 5, 2013

Willard "Willie" Arndt, age 93, of Janesville, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Mayo Health Systems-Mankato.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be held at the St. John''s - Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday morning.

Willard Carl, was born on June 15, 1920, in Janesville to Carl and Olga (Kopischke) Arndt. On April 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Edna Voges at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland by the Reverend Marxhausen. They worked on farms in the Nicollet and Courtland areas for a few years before moving back to Janesville. He then went to work for Ed Gayer in 1947 and eventually bought his business, "Bill''s Liquor Store" in 1953. He owned the business for many years and later retired in 1982.

Willard and Edna enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, bowling, playing cards, going to the casino with the guys, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edna later preceded him in death on November 23, 2011. Willie was a long-time member of the Janesville Fire Department and also the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Carol) Arndt of Mankato, Shirley (Roger) Meister of Mankato, Sue Lopez of Janesville, Gary (Paula) Arndt of Janesville and Diane Radunz and special friend, Terry Lundgren of Janesville; his nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; his sister, Leona Gottschalk of Janesville; his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and by his very good neighbors and other close

friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Herbert (Harriet) Arndt; his brother-in-law, Armin Gottschalk; his great grandson, Mason Meister in 2011; his wife Edna in 2011; and by his son-in-law, George Lopez in 2013.

Willie''s family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and other caregivers on the 2nd floor for all their wonderful attention and care given to their dad over the past days.
