WAYNE T. BRECK, age 81 of Waseca died on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the New Richland Care Center.
Born on January 12, 1937 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Ted and Ethel (Nevins) Breck.  He graduated from Waseca High School in 1955 where he received 13 varsity letters in golf, football, basketball, and track.  He was later inducted into the Waseca Bluejay Hall of Fame.  He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany for three years where he worked in intelligence.   While in Germany, Wayne enjoyed giving the kids at a local orphanage motorcycle rides.
Following his discharge, Wayne attended Arizona State University on a golf scholarship.  He married Evelyn Johnson on April 20, 1967 in Phoenix, AZ.  He worked in purchasing at Herters and later was employed at Brown Printing Co. doing page prep before retiring in 1999.    He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, camping with his kids, and attending his childrens and grandchildrens sporting events.
Golf was Waynes passion.  During his time in the service, he played in Europe and Africa and even hitch-hiked home from Indiana with his golf clubs to play in a tournament.   He played – and won many tournaments held all across Minnesota. Wayne was also the Waseca Club Champion four times and continued to play in senior tournaments in his retirement.
He is survived by three children, Todd (Kelly) Breck of Janesville, Jayson (Pam Grunzke) Breck of Waseca, and Tammy (Tom) Peterson of New Richland; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Kay (Joe) Sammon of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Helen Miller of Hayfield and Gertrude Johnson of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; brother, Alan; and grandson, Preston Peterson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church.
