Alfred Thomas (Tom) Heine, age 83, transitioned from this life on March 28, 2010 at his home in Faribault, MN with both of his daughters by his side. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with Chris Sorensen, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Faribault will be held at a later date. A gathering time for friends and relatives will be held on Monday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Alfred Thomas Heine, was born on August 26, 1926 in Faribault, MN to Alfred H. and Muriel (Liebe) Heine. He was better known as Tom Heine and lived in Faribault all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning from the service he worked with his father as Deputy County Register of Deeds. After his father''s retirement, Tom was elected to serve as Rice County Register of Deeds from 1963 to 1970 and then founded Rice County Abstract and Title Company. He owned and operated the business for 40 years and although semi-retired he continued to work on various projects weeks before his death. Tom was married to Ruth Schneider on June 25, 1949 and they had two daughters. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Heine (& Curtis Cooper) of Ada, OK, and Nancy Heine (& David DeAntonis) of Vancouver, WA; brother, John R. (Bob) Heine of Faribault; two sisters, Margaret Cochran of Jackson, GA, and Rosalie McCarthy (& Steve) of Morristown, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Heine in 1995; and brother, James Heine in 2007. A special thank you to Faribault Area Hospice for the care they provided. Memorials may be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice or the choice of the donor in memory of Tom.
