Shirley J. Meister

May 19, 1948 — February 3, 2019

Shirley (Arndt) Meister, age 70, of Mankato, died peacefully on February 3, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her family.
Celebration of life will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 9th, at Janesville United Methodist Church in Janesville with Rev. Kathy King, officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday, February 8th, at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the celebration of life on Saturday.
Shirley Jean (Arndt) Meister was born on May 19, 1948, to Willard and Edna (Voges) Arndt in Waseca. On April 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to Roger Meister at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Roth officiating. They lived in Janesville for two years before moving to Mankato. She worked as a beautician for several years. In 1980, she graduated with an LPN Degree and worked at various clinics and hospice. In 1984, she worked for Shopko in various departments and in 1996, became a Pharmacy Technician and worked there until 2002. In August of 2002, she opened a daycare with her son Jamie and worked at Mom-n-Me until 2010.
Shirley enjoyed her family, spending time with grandchildren and friends as well as quilting, sewing, crafting, working puzzles, baking and going to the casino. Her daycare families were always special to her. She really loved children.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger of Mankato; daughter, Tammy (Josh) Johnson of Burnsville; sons: Robert Meister of Mankato and his special friend Jenny and her daughter Ashley Zutz of Nicollet; and Jamie (Jodi) Meister of Mankato; five grandchildren: Reese, Jonah, and Hayden Johnson, Riley and Emma Meister; sister, Diane Radunz and special friend Terry Lundgren of Janesville; brothers: Richard (Carol) Arndt and Gary (Paula) Arndt both of Janesville; brother-in-law, Steve Meister and his special friend Maria of Mankato; and special friends: Diane Abraham and Judy Dunlap of Mankato; along with many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Willard and Edna Arndt; sister, Sue and brother-in-law, George Lopez; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ervin and Violet Meister; sister-in-law, Judy Meister; and grandson, Mason Meister.
