Shirley J. Kolan, age 89 of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Three Links Reflections Care Suites in Northfield, MN.

Private family services will be held.

Funeral arrangements were completed with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault, MN.

Shirley J. DeGrass was born on September 1, 1924 in Royal Oak, MI to Ray and Stella DeGrass. She graduated from Wayne State College and worked for several years as a secretary. Shirley was united in marriage to Andrew Kolan Jr. and they had two daughters, Amy and Karen. Shirley was a homemaker for her family through their childhood years. She then taught Business Education at Glen Burnie High School for 17 years. She and Andrew lived in Severna Park, MD during this time. In retirement they moved to Palm Harbor, FL, where she had resided for 25 years. Andrew preceded her in death in 1990. Shirley was an avid golfer, an excellent bowler, and enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Kolan (and husband, Craig Feathers) of Northfield, MN and Karen Kolan Dyke (and husband, Ashby Dyke) of Shepherdstown, WV; four granddaughters, Aleta Kolan, Tessa Kolan, Kate Wilkinson, and Emma Dyke; and other relatives and friends.
