Scott M. Malecha, age 49, of Faribault, died on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault, following a brief illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the church. Scott Michael Malecha, the son of James and Phyllis (Rost) Malecha, was born on May 13, 1961 in Faribault. Scott graduated from Bethlehem Academy with the class of 1979 and then Faribault Vo-Tech in Tool & Die. He was married to Michelle Perron and they had a son, Jeremiah. They were later divorced. Scott worked at K & G Mftg. for many years, then Blount Mftg. in Owatonna, K-Bar Mftg., Ford Plumbing, and lastly with McQuays. Scott truly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or spending time at the lake. He was also known for being a jack of all trades. He is survived by his son, Jeremiah Malecha and his wife Marissa of Platte City, Missouri; granddaughter, Kalleigh; by his parents, James and Phyllis Malecha of Faribault; brother James Malecha Jr. and his wife Corinne of Lino Lakes, MN; two sisters, Sue Nasby and husband Michael of Northfield and Shelley Friesen and husband Gerald of Faribault; sisters-in-law, Cindy Malecha of Faribault, and Julie Malecha of Fredericksburg, VA; and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Melanie Malecha; two brothers, Steve Malecha in 2001, and Jeffrey Malecha on March 23, 2010; his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Margaret Rost and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Marie Malecha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
