SANDRA JEAN ROSS, age 72 of Waseca died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.
Born on September 25, 1946 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Vinton and Doris (Felske) Matz.  She graduated from Waseca High School in 1964.  She married James Ross and they were later divorced.  Over the years, Sandy worked at various places including IGA Grocery, Farmers National Bank, Roundbank, and First National Bank.   She also worked for JC Penney for 24 years and sold Avon for many years, achieving #9 in the entire company in one program, one of her greatest accomplishments.
Sandy was a member of the American Legion Post #228 and VFW Post #1642 Auxiliaries in Waseca and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Owatonna.  She was also a member of Solo Parents and served in several offices including president.   She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where she served as a Sunday School teacher and youth group leader.  Sandy also had been a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Sandy enjoyed working on many backyard projects including her fish pond, gazebo sandbox, archway, and her picket fence with roses and peonies.  She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flowers, knitting, embroidery, sewing, painting and bird watching.  She also enjoyed holding her semi-annual garage sale and traveling, especially Israel and Washington DC.   Her best title of all was Grandma Sandy and she enjoyed taking 7 of her 12 grandchildren on a 3-day one-on-one trip.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Irma) Ross, Thomas (Jennifer) Ross, and Audra (Brandon) Ryan all of Waseca; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.  She is also survived by two brothers, Rev. Curt (Darlene) Matz of Fairbanks, AK and Merle (Rita Jennings) Matz of Waseca; brother-in-law, Wayne Christofferson of Owatonna; and several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Douglas Ross; and one sister, Deloris Christofferson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the church.   Burial will follow at St. John Trinity Lutheran Cemetery-Iosco in Waseca County.
