Ruth A. Groeneveld, age 84, of Mankato formerly of Waseca, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Lakeshore Inn, Waseca. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, with Fr. Syl Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Ruth Agnes was born on April 17, 1925 in Winnisheik County, Iowa to Robert Joseph and Josephine Marie (Anderson) Gossman. She graduated from Pemberton High School, and earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph''s Nurses Training in Mankato. Ruth was united in marriage to Lambertus "Bert" Groeneveld on April 29, 1953 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Most of their married life was spent in Southern Minnesota including the communities of Waseca, Mankato, Meriden and Owatonna. Ruth and Bert owned and operated a dog kennel, and farmed for a short time. Over the years Ruth also worked as an LPN at St. Joseph''s Hospital in Mankato, nursing homes in Owatonna, and for Birds Eye Foods in Waseca. Ruth enjoyed her membership and the many friendships developed in her participation with T.O.P.S. #627. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Lois Gossman and Margaret Gossman, both of Janesville, and by her late husband''s sister who resides in Holland; by her niece Sue (Jerry) Schoenfeld of Waseca, and nephews Daniel Gossman and Scott Gossman of Janesville, and Timothy (Susan) Gossman of Chatfield. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 16, 1983; by her sister Rosanna Gossman and her two brothers Joseph Gossman and Elmer Gossman.
