Roger 'Skip' Aaker July 30, 1957 - August 13, 2014

Roger A. "Skip" Aaker Jr., age 57, of Faribault, MN, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at his home following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.

Roger Arden, the son of Roger A. and Maureen (Pretty) Aaker was born on July 30, 1957 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His family moved to Sartell, MN and Skip attended Sartell High School and graduated with the class of 1976. After high school Skip attended St. Paul Technical College and began an 18 year career as a journeyman glasscutter. He first worked for Hoffer''s Glass and later Old Castle Glass, both in Bloomington, MN. Skip also worked for Tom''s Pro Glass until he found a position working for Faribault Public Schools, first as a custodian and later taking care of the grounds at all of the school buildings until illness forced him to stop working. On April 26, 1996 he was united in marriage to Wendy Duchene at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Skip loved watching their daughter play volleyball and family trips to the Wisconsin Dells. He was an avid fisherman and softball player and also enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife Wendy Aaker of Faribault; by his daughter Anna Aaker of Faribault; his son Gabriel (Kathryn) Purdie and their daughter Kacidy Purdie, of Faribault; by his mother, Maureen Aaker of Faribault; by his brother, David (Lori) Aaker of Prior Lake, MN and their daughters, Kristen and special friend, Andrew Tindal and Sara and fianc, Christopher Dietz; two sisters, Lynn Aaker of Faribault and Deb (Charlie) Moline of Morristown and her son, Nathan Staupe; by his father and mother- in-law, Jerry and Kay Duchene of Faribault; by his brother-in-law, Pete (Dina) Duchene and family of Orange Park, FL and by other relatives and friends.
