Roger Schema June 21, 1926 - July 29, 2012

Roger F. Schema, age 86 of Faribault, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Deaconess Towers in Faribault following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault, with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Roger Francis Schema, the son of John and Mary (Pineur) Schema, was born on June 21, 1926 in Faribault. He attended Bethlehem Academy and graduated with the class of 1944. On October 26, 1948, Roger was united in marriage to Geraldine Schuller at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Together, they enjoyed going to old time dances and spending time fishing and boating on Roberds Lake. Roger was a lifelong farmer in Rice County. His farm started out on Highway 60 near Cannon Lake and continued to grow. In 1995, Roger retired and moved to a townhome in Faribault. He and Geraldine enjoyed retirement together, but he continued to spend time at the farm where he enjoyed working with his sons, Roger A. and Michael in their operation. In 2009 Roger and Geraldine moved to Keystone Communities and then later to Deaconess Towers as their health continued to fail. Roger was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 889 and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Faribault. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Faribault; his three children, Cheryl (Willard) Peterson of Owatonna, Roger A. (Kimberly) Schema of West Concord and Michael (Susan) Schema of Faribault; his two grandchildren, Brenda (Chris) Bednar of Owatonna and John Schema of Faribault; his three great grandchildren, Julian, Mattise and Chloe Bednar of Owatonna; his sister in law, Lorraine Schema of Faribault and by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Edward Schema.
