ROBERT A. 'BOB' BITTRICH, age 83 of LeCenter, died on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.

Born in Waterville on May 14, 1932, Robert was the son of Walter and Dorothy (Fessel) Bittrich. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1951 before enlisting in the US Air Force. In 1953, while stationed in England, he met and married Joyce Hunter on November 7, 1953. He returned to his hometown with wife and child and was discharged Airman 1st class in June 1955. He then owned and operated a local oil station, later drove furniture truck, and went on to work construction including a bridge crew for C&NW Railroad. He then worked for city of Waterville in charge of the street department and was relief operator of the water treatment plant. Upon retirement he and Joyce traveled to Arizona, Arkansas, and wintered in South Texas.

Bob was a member of the Waterville City Council, the Waterville Fire Department, the VFW, the American Legion, the Lions, and the local Sportsman's Club, as well as Trinity Lutheran Church. He spent many years helping clean and supplying bullheads for the bullhead days. Bob was a local handyman, helping his neighbors, family, & community members who all loved him and will miss him dearly. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, & going to garage sales. He also dearly loved playing with his grandkids.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue (Mark) Jensen of Springfield, MO, and Shelly (John) Fredrickson of Le Center, MN; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua, Bobbi Sue, Melissa, Robby, Jeremiah, August, Brandon; fifteen great grandchildren; siblings, Esther (Gerald) LaMont of Waseca, and Harry Bittrich, Joe Bittrich, Linda Anderson, Deb (Gayle) Hogan, all of Waterville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Ahlman, Colin (Diedra)Taylor and Barb Bittrich; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife-Joyce (June 2015); his parents; one daughter, Tracy Bittrich; two sisters; two brothers; and a great-grandson, Caleb.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. Juan Palm officiating.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery.
