Richard Fredrick Block December 9, 1919 - August 2, 2014

Richard Frederick Block, age 94, of Waseca, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca, with Pastor Mike Longanecker officiating. Interment will be held at the Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to services.

Richard Frederick, the son of Frederick and Martha (Vanselow) Block, was born on December 9, 1919 in Waseca, Minnesota. He attended school in Waseca before working with his father in Waterville as a mechanic. He especially enjoyed working on Buicks. Richard was married for a brief time in Waseca before getting a divorce. He enjoyed playing card games with his friends and family and giving out peppermint mints and mini candy bars to everyone he met. Richard was also a great witness for the Lord, speaking to people about it everywhere he went.

Richard is survived by his nephews, Ken (Patti) Hennessey and Fred (Jolene) Hennessey, both of Mankato; and many other nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sisters, Dorothy Block and Evelyne Hennessey.
