Richard Dick Mulcahey

Richard “Dick” W. Mulcahey, 77, of Janesville passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital due to heart failure.

A Celebration of Richards Life will be held at 11am on Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Ann Catholic Church of Janesville. Visitation will be from 9:30am – 11:00am Friday before the service. Burial will be in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery of Janesville.

Richard was born April 11, 1939 to Arthur and Elizabeth (Berg) Mulcahey on the farm in rural Janesville.

He graduated from Janesville High School 1959 and began working at Birds Eye and his family farm.

On September 26, 1964, Richard married Caroline Herdina and, together, raised their six children on their family farm he was proud to own.

During his life, he worked at Dotsons Foundry in Mankato, and many years at Brown Printing in Waseca.

His hobbies included, raising a variety of animals on the farm, fishing for bullheads and hunting for deer and pheasants on his farm, he enjoyed traveling to Branson and Nashville to see historical and country music sites. Gardening meant a lot to him. He would sell his homegrown apples and vegetables to everyone in town. Richard was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Wild, and Twins fan, as well as a life-long, dedicated fan of televised professional wrestling. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage he would always be seen wearing Green! He will be remembered for his big heart, compassion and contagious smile seen around the community and his big hugs, kisses and love for his grandkids, children and family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; children, Audrey (Mike) Thompson of Boston, KY, Bill (Penny) Mulcahey of Waterville, Randy (Hilary) Mulcahey of Waseca, Marcia (Steve) Schoenrock of Waseca, Kari (Mike) Southwick of Janesville and Sara Blaha of Janesville; grandchildren, Kristy (Kurtis) Kolb, Barby Ryan, John Ryan, Brittany (Joey) Curtsinger, Justin Sutter, Chris Mulcahey, Anna Mulcahey, Korbin Mulcahey, Tyler Mulcahey, Mikayla Slegh, Takya Schoenrock, Otto Schoenrock, Miranda Southwick, Karalyn Southwick, Marissa Southwick, Kortney Southwick and Alec Mulcahey; great-grandchilden, Jayden Ryan, Hailey Ryan, Layne Curtsinger, Maddie Curtsinger, Riley Curtsinger Kameron Kolb; siblings, Monica Fritz, Bette (Tom) Furr, and LeRoy Mulcahey; sister-in-law, Delores Mulcahey; with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Cody Thompson; siblings, Stasia Stenzel, John Mulcahey, Donald Mulcahey and his infant brother Arthur Francis.
