Rachel G. Waskosky, age 92, of Faribault, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault, with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan and Rev. Michael Kaluza, concelebrating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Rachel Gertrude Trahan, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Driessen) Trahan, was born on January 16, 1920 in Amiret Township, near Marshall, MN. On August 8, 1939, Rachel was united in marriage to Cyril "Cy" Waskosky at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. He preceded her in death on October 7, 2001. Rachel was a surgical technician at the Sanford Memorial Hospital in Farmington for twenty five years and retired in 1982. She and Cy enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona for many years until health problems didn''t allow them to anymore. Rachel had a passion for cooking and baking. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Rachel is survived by her five children, Noraine Waskosky of Faribault, Carole O''Meara of Apple Valley, MN, Mike (Jean) Waskosky of Coon Rapids, MN, Becky (Rick) Balcik of Apache Junction, AZ and Bobbie (David) Kline of Rosemount; her 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; her siblings, Leonard Trahan of Faribault, Eugene (Dorene) Trahan of Faribault, Elsie Forcelle of Brainerd and Janet (Jerry) Silkey of Northfield and by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cy, her two brothers Theodore and Henry Trahan and by her sister Evelyn Iverson.
