PATSY FERN BARTZ, age 82 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Born on November 15, 1932 in Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Bert and Myrtle (Groth) Root.  She attended rural Waseca County Schools before graduating from New Richland High School in 1951.  She married Levi Bartz on August 8, 1951at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.  She joined her husband in Germany where they spent 2 years of his Army career.  They then moved to Stanley, WI where they were in the bakery business for two years before moving to Owatonna where she worked for OTC for 26 years, retiring in 1994.  She enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, collecting recipes, playing cards, dancing, and going to the casino.  Patsy also enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, Waseca Area Senior Citizens, and the Our Gang Club.
She is survived by her children, Greg (Irene) Bartz of St. Cloud, Brad (LuAnn) Bartz of Waseca, Doug (Mary) Bartz of Montrose, CO, Sandy (Jim) Sowieja of Cleveland and Jeff (Dianne) Bartz of Buffalo, 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Belvy (Ken) Kaiser of Mapleton, and Donald (Bonnie) Root of New Richland; sisters-in-law, Helen Root of Brainerd and Vera Root of Faribault; and several nieces and nephews.    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Goldie Miller; and two brothers, Dick Root and Dallas Root.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca with Rev. John Omans officiating.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the funeral home.
