Norma Mittelsteadt

Norma J. Mittelsteadt, 82 year old resident of Janesville, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Janesville Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Larry Griffin and Rev. Paul Muther, officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Discipling Center.

Norma Jean Mittelsteadt was born on Leap Day, February 29, 1936 in Galva, KS to Dave and Della (Decker) Unruh. She attended McPherson County Public School and later graduated from Galva High School with the class of 1954. Norma was united in marriage to Merlin Mittelsteadt on January 15, 1955, on Unruh Family Farm in Kansas. Shortly after their wedding, Norma was baptized in the Lutheran faith on June 22, 1955, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Norma and Merlin made their home in rural Waseca where they farmed side by side for many years. Norma also took great pride in her garden. She later worked as a CNA at Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home and for Waseca County. Following her retirement, Norma and Merlin moved to Janesville. They shared 48 years of marriage before Merlin passed away on October 15, 2003.
Norma was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved with ladies aid and the senior group. She enjoyed playing various card games. Norma cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by her family for the unconditional love she showed to all of them throughout her life and the never ending smile she perpetually shared. She will be dearly missed.
Norma is survived by her children: Randall (Jean) Mittelsteadt of Good Thunder, Renee (Steve) Howard of Mankato, and Rhonda (Mark) Schlie of Janesville; grandchildren: Shalom Mittelsteadt, Nick (Anny) Howard, Jon (Ashlie) Howard, Zach Neuhaus (significant other, ChaKara), Callie Neuhaus (significant other, Justin), Nicole Neuhaus, James (Katrina) Schlie, Christopher Schlie (significant other, Myra), and Alissa Schlie; great grandchildren: Alexander Mittelsteadt, Archer Howard, Elliana and Chloe Howard, Kiara Neuhaus, Mariah, Hayden and Camie Schlie, Eva and Wesson Schlie and Tucker and Paisley Schlie; siblings: Bob (Mary) Unruh of Canton, KS and Darlene Everhart of McPherson, KS; brother-in-law, Charles Regier of McPherson, KS; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Della Unruh; husband, Merlin Mittelsteadt; siblings: Joyce (Carl) Lawless, and LaVeda Regier; son-in-law, Mark Neuhaus.
