Pastor Merwin S Miller December 20, 1926 - September 6, 2014

Pastor Merwin Summers Miller, 87, of Janesville, MN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 6, 2014. He ended his 36 year battle with colon cancer at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He will be remembered for many things, among them, his love for God and his passion for missions.

Merwin was born on December 20, 1926, to Cecil and Myrtle (Summers) Miller in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up on a farm and completed high school at PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. He served his country on the USS Commencement Bay in the Navy, stationed at Bremerton, Washington. He then attended North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis, obtaining a Diploma degree in Pastoral Studies, and was then licensed and ordained with the Assemblies of God. It was at NCBI that he met the love of his life, Em Miller. They were married on July 3rd, 1947. In 1949 they began a life of ministry that took them to Boscobel, WI; Escanaba, MI; Babbitt, MN; Wells, MN; Dolton, SD; Britton, SD; Amherst, SD and finally at Elysian, MN. Merwin and Em adopted and raised 3 children, Michelle, Marc and Morris and unofficially adopted daughter, Helen Strehlo.

Merwin''s life is best reflected through his passion for people and his 57 year role as a pastor. He spent much of his pastoral years remodeling/building parsonages and designed and built churches in Boscobel, Babbitt and Elysian. He loved to study the Bible, particularly prophecy, and lead Bible studies and church services for nursing homes. Some of the happiest days in his life were the days he adopted his children and helped them grow, teaching them what he knew about the Lord and various skills for life.

Merwin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Em; daughter, Michelle (Duane) Coyle of Byron; son, Marc of Nashwauk, MN; four grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Lucido of New Orleans, LA, Paul (Linda) Scrabeck of Aurora, CO, John (Lisa) Scrabeck of Rifle, CO, and Chantelle Miller of Brainerd, MN; four great grandchildren, Jacob Lucido, Isabel, Oakley and Brody Scrabeck; two siblings, David Miller of Monrovia, CA, and Anna Mae (Dan) Brander of Proctor, MT; brother-in-law, Roger Frost of Plainfield, WI; and several other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Morris Miller; sisters, Dorothy Miller and Marjorie Frost; great grandson, Samuel Lucido; sister-in-law, Esther Miller; three brothers- in-law; three sisters-in-law; and three nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Waseca Christian Assembly, with Pastor Brad Wickersheim and Reverend Clarence St. John officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service on Friday starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
