Maynard D. Wilkening, age 77 of Janesville, died on Monday, January 16, 2012 of a devastating stroke at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Lauer, officiate. Interment with military honors will be in the St. John''s-Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Iosco Township, Waseca County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville. There will be no visitation prior to the service at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Maynard Dayle was born on May 28, 1934 to William and Gertrude (Martens) Wilkening in Martin County, Minnesota. He was baptized on June 24, 1934 at St. Paul''s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Welcome, and confirmed at North Waseca Lutheran Church. Maynard attended school in District 14 Martin County, Grasston Consolidated School, Waseca Central High School and Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo, North Dakota. He entered the United States Army on June 15, 1955 and was honorably discharged on June 4, 1957. On July 26, 1959 Maynard was united in marriage to Ramona D. Pratt at North Waseca Lutheran Church. He was married to his true companion for over 52 years. Maynard and Ramona raised their family and have resided in Janesville their entire married life. He was employed for many years at Miller Motors in Mankato. He retired in January 2005 from his motor route for the Mankato Free Press after 26 years of service. Maynard purchased the family farm in 1973 and was still actively farming, and enjoyed working the land. Over the years Maynard served on numerous community and church boards. Love of his Savior and family is what he valued most in life. He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona of Janesville; four children, Kay (Michael) Carda of Lakeville, Craig (Silvia) Wilkening of Denver, CO, twins, Nathan (Rita) Wilkening of Janesville and Lora (Todd) Isackson of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Brenna and Temi Carda, Christina, Jennifer and Hannah Wilkening, Jacob and Jerit Wilkening and Megan and Nicholas Isackson; by his sister, Evelyn Linde of Waseca; by his brother, William Wilkening of River Falls, WI; by his sisters-in-law, Carol Hill of Crystal, Eunice (Linden) Vail of Waterville and Gwen (Bob) Johnson of Waseca; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brothers, Lloyd, Vernon and Everett Wilkening; by his brothers-in-law Philip
