Mary Margaret (Strauss) King, age 67, died on Saturday, May 11 at her home in the company of her husband, John, her children and spouses, Cynthia, Michael & Emily, William & Fabiola and her grandson Remy.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday morning. The Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mary, the daughter of Clemens and Rose Annetta (Vanderheyden) Strauss, was born on May 8, 1946 in St. Paul, MN. She lived the early portion of her life in Bellchester then Faribault, MN. Mary graduated Bethlehem Academy High School in 1964. She continued her education at St. Mary''s in Rochester to become Registered Nurse. Following nursing school, she began her life''s adventure travelling to see the world. Her travels first took her to Hawaii where she extended her stay by working at the military hospital. Through her nursing career, she met a group of colleagues who together decided to see Europe by working at various military and veteran''s hospitals along the way. Mary settled in Bethesda, MD outside Washington DC to work at the National Institute of Health''s cancer research hospital. It was there she met her husband John who was in the military at Walter Reed hospital. They continued life''s journey living in various places including Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Delaware.

After raising her children, Mary earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education from Georgian Court University. She taught under privileged children at project Head Start as well as pre-school and kindergarten children at various Catholic schools in New Jersey and Rhode Island preparing them for their journey through life.
