Mary Sartor March 11, 1920 - April 11, 2010

Mary P. Sartor, age 90, of Nerstrand, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at home following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Mary Petronella Reuvers, the daughter of Wilhelmus and Cornelia Alberta (Loeffen) Reuvers, was born on March 11, 1920 in Wijchen, Holland. At 7 months old her family moved from Holland to the United States and settled first in Wisconsin, then in Cannon City Township, Rice County. Mary entered first grade at St. Lawrence School speaking only Dutch. She was married to Wilfred Sartor on May 14, 1941 at the St. Lawrence Church in Faribault. They farmed in Warsaw and Cannon City Townships and for 50 years farmed and resided in Wheeling Township. They received special recognition for their conservation efforts on their farm from the DNR. Wilfred preceded her in death on October 23, 1997. Mary worked for 15 years at the Faribault Regional Center as a Sr. Psych. Tech. retiring in 1986. Mary was a very active member of the Daughters of Isabella, serving as Past Regent and continued to play an active role up until her passing. She was a 4-H Leader for the Cannon City Cardinals, PTA President, member of the Divine Mercy CCW, and the Friendly Neighbors. Mary was active with the Rice County Fair serving as organizer for the Open Class of the Horticulture competition. She was a great supporter of charities and was always an active participant. She was a member of the St. Lawrence quilting group which donated many quilts and she provided meals for Habitat for Humanity, among many other works of charity. Mary had a green thumb and was one of the original members of the Cannon City Garden Club. She is survived by seven children, Bill (Gini) Sartor of Faribault, Bob (Pam) Sartor of Faribault, Jim (Nancy) Sartor of Faribault, Susan Sartor (Roy Berger) of St. Paul, Pat (John) Mullenmeister of Prior Lake, Cindy (Jack) Holmstrom of Savage, and Dave (Jean) Sartor of Nerstrand; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Harriet Reuvers of Faribault and Geraldine Reuvers of Dundas; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Anthony, Theodore, William,
