Mary Guse May 4, 1940 - December 20, 2010

Mary G. Guse, age 70 of rural Waseca, died on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Faribault Commons Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin and Vicar Michael Schuette officiating. Interment will be in the St. John''s- Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Iosco Township, Waseca County. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Thursday morning for one hour prior to services at church. Mary Gladys was born to Arthur and Lois (Vasey) Ryther in Austin, Minnesota on May 4, 1940. As a child she attended Austin Public Schools, graduating in 1958. She went on to attend Austin Junior College for secretarial classes. Mary was active in 4-H, showing her animals, and later becoming a 4-H leader for the Palmer Sunbeams of Waseca. She was married to Dale Phelps and later divorced. She was united in marriage to Paul Guse on March 1, 1974. Mary raised her kids and worked hard farming with her husband Paul. She also worked for many years in hospitality at Waseca Area Medical Center. She retired from the hospital in 2004, where she had developed many friendships. Her needs came after her kids needs. There was many times she''d tells us that she loved us! As we were growing up, we could remember her telling us to drive careful as we would leave with friends. Mary was a good hearted person and would help other people get involved in 4-H, and yesat times she''d push our limits as kids when to came to 4-H. That''s just what parents do. Some joys that meant the world to her were her kids, grandkids and yes, we can''t forget the animals. She will be sorely missed by her husband Paul Guse; her children, Leslie (Marty) Smith, Jodi (Robert) Huss and Daniel Guse; by her step children, Mark Guse and James Guse; by her grandchildren, Devon, Christopher, Timothy, Parker, Jonathan, Jackson, Aliza, Henry and George; by her brother Bill (Bonnie) Ryther and her sister, Peggy (Roger) Kraft; by her brothers-in-law and sisters- in- law, Herbert (Mavis) Guse, Clarence (Bev) Guse, Marvin (Kathy) Guse, Lyle (Paulette) Guse, Carl Guse, Robert Gille, Ruth Schoenfeld, Grace (Larry) Vitort, Lila (Richard) Karrer, Ruby (Dave) Isebrand and Vera (Marvin) Stolt; by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her son, Scott Phelps on October 24, 2010, and her sister-in-law Nora
