Marlys R. Calcutt Kleist, age 62 of Faribault, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault with the Rev. Dennis Tamke, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Marlys Rita, the daughter of Charles Lloyd and Vivian (Naumann) Calcutt, was born on Dec. 18, 1947 in Janesville, Minnesota. She attended Waseca High School and graduated with the class of 1966. Following high school she attended Mankato State University for a couple of years and would later earn her degree with a major in English. She was united in marriage to Perry Kleist. They were later divorced. Marlys worked for many years at Clements Chevrolet in Mankato and later worked for many years at a group home in Mankato. She enjoyed researching her family history and ancestry. She is survived by her dog and faithful companion, Ziggy; by her sister, Sharon (Larry) Reese of Owatonna, MN; by her sister in law, Merilyn Calcutt of Northfield, MN; by six nieces and nephews, Patricia (Chad) Oehlenschlager of Alexandria, MN, Alan Bethke of Waseca, MN, Kim Tysdale of Owatonna, MN, Michael (Sandra) Calcutt of Burnsville, MN, Lisa (Mark) Lehman of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Christopher (Suzanne) Calcutt of Santee, CA; by six great nephews, five great nieces and one great great niece and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eugene Calcutt and by her niece, Lori Calcutt.
