Marlys Adelle, the daughter of Melvin and Linnea (Johnson) Johnson, was born on March 28, 1930 in Minneapolis. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and continued her education in secretarial training. She worked for a short amount of time and on October 21, 1950, was united in marriage to Don Dahlberg at the Bethesda Free Church in Minneapolis. It was shortly after that time when Marlys became a homemaker.

Marlys was a simple, practical woman with strong values. She enjoyed reaching out to those who were homebound and ill, and never forgot to send a birthday card to family and friends. While living in Brooklyn Center, Marlys and Don were members of the Berean Evangelical Free Church and were active in church life, where she enjoyed playing the piano for services. After moving to Waseca, they attended Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Karen (Dean) Smith of Bethany, West Virginia, June (John) May of San Jose, California, David (Caryn) Dahlberg of Cottage Grove and Benjamin (Tammy) Dahlberg of Waseca; her ten grandchildren, Jim Merrick, Ross Merrick, Krista (Nathan) Gilson, Rebekah Dahlberg, Daniel Dahlberg, Johanna (Khang) Tran, Benjamin Dahlberg, Isaac Dahlberg, Davis Dahlberg and Averi Dahlberg; her siblings, Kermit (Muriel) Johnson of Bloomington, Vern (Janice) Johnson of Bloomington and Duane (Pat) Johnson of Atlanta, GA; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Don on March 22, 2001.
