Mark C. Born

Mark C. Born, age 57, of Janesville, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 24, 2016, at his home in Janesville.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 10:00 am 2:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm all at the Arnoldt Chapel in Janesville. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Janesville Fire Department.

Mark C. Born "Beets" was born on May 7, 1959, in Waseca to Ervin and Joyce (Poole) Born. Mark grew up in Janesville and was a 1977 graduate from Janesville High School, where he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He continued his education at Minnesota State University Mankato, graduating in 1981, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting. Mark and his wife Vikki owned and operated the Janesville Maid Bakery for several years, they later divorced. Mark worked at various jobs in the area, one of those being a carpenter for Gustavus Adophus College in St. Peter. In the mid 2000s he received his CDL and began working for UC Laboratory in Janesville as well as Crystal Valley Coop as a driver.
Mark truly enjoyed the outdoors and cherished the time he spent fishing on Madison Lake with Bill Burns for over 30 years. He liked to watch sports, always following the Vikings and Gophers. Mark always had time to play cards with family and friends. He was a people person and was surely one of a kind. He will be truly missed.
Mark is survived by his brother, David (Carla) of Roy, Washington; sister, Meri (Steven) Ditschler of Eagan; five nieces: Lisa (Michael) Hodapp of Little Rock, AR, Kim (Michael) Germscheid of Madison Lake, Ann Zimmerman of Little Rock, AR, Staci (Jeffrey) Lynch of Cleveland, MN and Christine (Nathan) Fults of Mankato; many great nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Dale Zimmerman; longtime friend, Bill Burns.
