MARJORIE ROSE ANDERSON, age 88 of Morristown, died on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at District One Hospital in Faribault.
Born in Le Sueur County on January 25, 1928, Marjorie was the daughter of Edward Carl and Dorothy Emily (Kletschka) Scholer. Following her graduation from high school in Waterville, she married Eric Brother Anderson at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Together they made their home in the Morristown area where they continued to live for the rest of their lives. In addition to raising their nine children, she and her husband owned and operated a family restaurant in Morristown, she worked at Sammys Steakhouse, Wilsons Turkey Plant, Faribault Canning Company, Nutting Truck and Castor, Rite Way, and Morristown Manor. Following her working years she continued to volunteer as a hospice volunteer. She enjoyed sewing and crafting, quilting, flower gardening, reading, walking, and driving friends and neighbors to church. She was an avid Vikings fan and loved following the local sports teams. In fact, she had been voted WEMs #1 fan. Marjorie also loved traveling, and had an opportunity to visit all 50 states. She was a former Morristown PTA President, member of the Circle Sisters Walking Club, and was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville where she was active with the quilting club.
Marjorie is survived by nine children, Gerald Anderson of Morristown, Shirley (Dan) Oppliger of Suprise, AZ, Harold "Tex" Anderson of Waterville, Peggy (Bruce) Schulz of Morristown, Celia (Herb) Engler of Morristown, Arnell Anderson of Morristown, Christy (Mary) Anderson of Waikoloa, HI, Eric Alan (Barb) Anderson of Missoula, MT, and Roselyn Anderson of Morristown. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Scholer of Lansing; one sister-in-law, Elaine Scholer of Waterville; one brother-in-law, Giles "Art" Abbe of Waterville; two daughters-in-law, Louise Anderson of Waterville and Diane Anderson of Morristown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; two sisters, Betty Ann Abbe and Dorothy Mae Whiting; one brother, Robert Scholer; five sisters-in-law, Ruth Marshall, Valborg Paszak, Anna Oswell, Eleanor Oswell, and Mae Doris Schelinder; one brother-in-law, Ralph Whiting; one daughter-in-law, Karla Anderson; and one niece, Kathleen (Abbe) Aanas.
Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, with Rev. Michael Ince officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.
