Marilyn Louise Beach

MARILYN LOUISE BEACH, age 86 of Waterville, died on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born in Mankato on September 12, 1933, Marilyn was the daughter of Robert and Bessie (Fierst) Pittman. She graduated from high school in Waterville and went on to marry Herbert Eugene Beach, Jr. at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny in November of 1951. A lifelong resident of the Waterville area, she and her husband owned and operated Dudley’s Red Owl grocery store until 1992, and they lived in the same house on Common Street since 1959. Marilyn was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville where she had taught Catechism classes. She was heavily involved with Scouting, achieving the Silver Beaver award in 1979.

Marilyn is survived by four children, Thomas (Joyce) Beach of White Rock, NM, Kathryn (Robert Arnold) Beach of Waterville, James Beach of Waterville, and John Beach of Waterville; four grandchildren, Kristie (Derek) Adams of Waseca, Phillip Randt of Waterville, Luke (Mandy) Randt of Waterville, and Nicole Randt of Waterville; three great-grandchildren, Michael Adams, Brandon Randt, and Robbie Beach; and two siblings, Leon (Kathryn) Pittman of Kilkenny, and Carole (Darwyn) Slechta of Waterville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Robert C. Beach; and one sister-in-law, Vivodale (Leo) Hawkins.

A private funeral service for immediate family only will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville on Friday. Due to unprecedented community health concerns, the family encourages home viewing of the webcast of Marilyn’s funeral service, which will be made available to the public on the dennisfuneralhomes.com webpage on Saturday. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marilyn’s memory may be directed to the Calvary Cemetery Maintenance Fund or to a Scouting Council of the donor’s choice.
