Mahlon F. Duffney Sr., age 93, of Faribault, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr., Faribault with the Rev. Erik Lundgren, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Mahlon Francis Duffney Sr., the son of Wilfred and Mayme (Kiernan) Duffney, was born on January 1, 1918 in Erin Township, Rice County, Minnesota. On May 26, 1939, Mahlon was united in marriage to Virginia Giffin in Iowa. She later preceded him in death on July 18, 2004. Mahlon had worked at Jerome Foods in Faribault for thirty five years. He later began working at St. Olaf College in Northfield as a boiler engineer until his retirement at the age of eighty. Mahlon was a former member of the Eagles Club 1460 in Faribault. He is survived by his six children, Carol Gustafson of Maupin, OR, Mahlon (Darlene) Duffney Jr. of Faribault, Janice (Dave) Schweisthal of Faribault, James (Donna Ahle) Duffney of Surprise, AZ, Rick (Carolyn) Duffney of Faribault and Charlene (David) Jacobsen of Faribault; his 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren; his sister Alice Cughan of Sumner, WA; his sister-in-law, Mildred Duffney of Tacoma, WA and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Virginia; brothers Jerome, Edward, Leo and Vincent Duffney; sisters Gert Huff, Florence Kalla and Eileen Duffney; grandsons Alan Schweisthal and Gerald Gustafson; great grandson Brice Anderson; daughter-in-law Patricia Duffney and a son-in-law Robert Gustafson.
