Mabel H. Krautbauer was born on January 19, 1920, to Charles and Anna (Olsen) Floden on the family farm in Vivian Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant by Pastor Anderson in Buffalo, Minnesota on September 23, 1920, and later confirmed in her faith on July 18, 1937, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City by Rev. Palmer. She attended Waldorf Country School and later began working on the family farm for her father until she was united in marriage to Gilbert Krautbauer on November 9, 1940, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City. This marriage was blessed with 3 sons. They shared 58 years of marriage prior to Gilbert passing away on September 15, 1999. Mabel and Gilbert farmed side by side for many years on their farmsite in Alton Township near Alma City. Mabel lived on the farm for 71 years before moving to Colony Court in 2011.

Mabel and Gilbert truly enjoyed the time they spent together, especially going on their yearly winter trip to either Florida or Arizona. They also played many hands of pfeffer with their neighbors, and in Mabel’s later years she continued to play with the residents of Colony Court. She was a true gardener, always tending to her flowers and vegetables. Mabel loved to cook and bake; her family will never forget her character birthday cakes that she made every year for each one of her grandchildren. She was a longtime faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was involved in Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Night Owls Extension Club and Alma City Social Card Club.

Mabel is survived by her son, Mark (Jennifer) of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughters-in-law: Dianna Krautbauer of Janesville and Judy Krautbauer of Mankato; six grandchildren: Tracy (Tom) McBroom, Troy (Roxanne) Krautbauer, Tara (Mike) Ward, Kristine (Chris) Mihm, Rick (Jill) Krautbauer and Larin Krautbauer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons: Bruce and Richard; three sisters: Marian (Donald) Oliver, Ethel (William) Eakley and Grace (Michael) Ramundo; and one brother in infancy, Kenneth Floden.
