Lydia Florence Gutknecht

LYDIA FLORENCE GUTKNECHT, age 102 of Waseca died on February 14, 2020, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on July 25, 1917 in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of August and Mathilda (Wilkowske) Gutknecht. Florence attended rural Waseca County School District #6 before graduating from Waseca High School in 1935. She went on to attend Mankato Commercial College. Florence was employed at Stucky’s Drug Store and later worked as Clerk of Probate Court for 20 years and later Deputy Clerk in the Court Administrator’s Office. She enjoyed traveling and needlework. Florence was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca where she held numerous offices. She was also a member of the Waseca Senior Citizens and Our Gang.

She is survived by one niece, Virginia (Jim) Dean of Appleton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ruth Gutknecht, Herbert Gutknecht, James Gutknecht, Esther Mens, and Marie Warburton.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca with Rev. Victor Waters officiating.
