Lucille M. Murphy, age 90, formerly of Kilkenny, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Traditions of Waterville, following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Church Cemetery in Shieldsville.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Lucille Margaret was born January 9, 1925 in Iosco Township, Waseca County to J. Leo and Elizabeth (Wesley) Morgan. She went to country school in Waseca County and moved to Faribault with her family when she was 12 years old, graduating from Bethlehem Academy in the class of 1942. She studied to become a country schoolteacher at Normal School, Le Center and enjoyed reunions with classmates from both these schools all her life. She taught at two country schools in Rice County.

She married Leo T. Murphy, a Shieldsville farmer, on Sept 24, 1946 at Faribault, MN. She is survived by their five children: Mary Lou (Jim) Ihrke, Madison Lake; Tom (Joyce) Murphy and Richard (Jennifer) Murphy of Kilkenny; Becky Nicholas, Redwood Falls; Colleen (Jeff) Johnson, Excelsior. Also grandchildren: Ryan (Monica) Ihrke, Poultney, VT; Mary (Garrett Budin) Murphy, Montgomery; James Ihrke, Madison Lake; John (Sheena) Murphy, Faribault; Morgan and Madison Murphy, Kilkenny, MN. She also has three great- grandchildren: Gavin and Jozie Murphy and Wesley Ihrke.

She was a full-time farm wife, volunteer teacher at St. Patrick''s church, Shieldsville, St. Canice school room mother and 4-H leader. She attended many horse shows, demolition derbies and sporting events--every activity her family participated in. In honor of her

community activities, she was named Mrs. Shieldsville . She was always available to care for the grandchildren. She taught them all how to play euchre, one of her favorite games. Her interests were many: playing cards, sewing, painting, trying her luck at casinos, buying at auctions and re-selling at her annual Red Barn sales, meeting friends at the Eagles'' club, Faribault, and cheering on the MN Twins. She was a member of St. Patrick''s parish almost 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo (1968), her parents, sisters Mary Agnes and Alice, son-in-law Tony Nicholas, many aunts, uncles and friends.
