Loraine Olson Shevlin, 87, a life-long resident of Faribault died Monday, May 26, 2014 at home after an extended convalescence surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Sunday, June 8th, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Lorraine Shevlin, daughter of Carl and Nellie (Bongers) Olson was born on February 2, 1927 in Faribault, MN. She married the love of her life, Warren A. Shevlin on September 15, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington while Warren served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lorraine started the thrift shop in Faribault in 1967 know originally as Western Avenue Thrift Shop and then as Shevlin''s Thrift Shop. Lorraine is survived by her five daughters; Jan (Mark) Hansen of Faribault, Joan (Michael) Chavie of Faribault, Cindy (Jack) Shevlin-Woodcock of Brooklyn Park, MN, Marilyn "Punky" (Dennis) Morris of Wasilla, Alaska and Madonna (Mark) Chaika of Anchorage, Alaska, eight perfect grandchildren; Damian, Amber, Russ, Joe, Justin, Erin, Mara and Ben and six great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Lucille Olson of Faribault, and many nieces and nephews. Lifelong friend Joanne Hansen and neighbor Toots Kolterman.

Lorraine cherished her husband of 65 years, Warren A. Shevlin. She also loved to fish, dance, play cards, and RV camping. Lorraine and Warren spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Lorraine was a member of the Immaculate Conception Rosary Society, Willing and Ready Four -H Leader and a Girl Scout Leader.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, Warren, parents and brothers, Arthur and Donald Olson all of Faribault and sister-in law Nancy Landers of Brownsdale.
