Lorraine H. Miller
LORRAINE H. MILLER, age 95 of Waseca died on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Colony Court in Waseca.
Born on March 16, 1923 in Janesville, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Ernst and Lilly (Schmidt) Werdin.  She was baptized on March 17, 1923 at her home and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville on April 5, 1936.   Lorraine attended Trinity Parochial School before graduating as valedictorian from Janesville High School in 1940.  She went on to attend St. Olaf College before receiving her RN degree from Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester.   After graduation, Lorraine worked as an RN in Rochester and Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.  During this time, she was very proud to become an Army nurse cadet, but never served because the war ended.  Lorraine married Irvin Miller on May 15, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.  After a period of time as a homemaker and stay at home mom, she returned to nursing in 1965, working as an RN at the Waseca Area Hospital until 1977.
Lorraine was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where she was a member of the Cotta Guild, taught Sunday School and enjoyed the quilting group.  One of the many joys of her life was her family – her husband of 53 years, her children and spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Their achievements and activities were always very special to her and she was always there to support them.  Lorraine loved to decorate her home, especially for the holidays.  Family Christmas Eve was always special with the family singing her favorites.  She was a Minnesota sports fan and attended a Twins game for her 90th birthday.  In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling, family vacations, reading, music, sewing, crafts and the special friendships made during her lifetime.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Linda (David) Holtz of Waseca and Marcia (Gordy) Meiners of Owatonna; son, Craig (Kathy) Miller of New Brighton; five grandchildren, Troy (Diana) Holtz, Tom (Bobbi Jo) Holtz, Heather (Tim) Berndt, Nicholas (Vanessa) Miller, and Jonathan (Nancy) Meiners; seven great grandchildren, Lily, Kate, and Toby Holtz, Jordan and Haley Holtz, and Delaney and Colbie Berndt and two more expected in November (Baby Meiners) and December (Baby Miller).   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin in 1999; brothers, Milton in 1944 and Henry Schmidt in 1998; and great grandson, Thad Holtz in 2000.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 5-7 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
