Loren L. Wendel April 10, 1951 - December 12, 2012

Loren L. Wendel, age 61, of Morristown, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester following a recent illness.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, with the Rev. George Kallumkalkcuddy, officiating.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and of one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Loren Lee, the son of Louie and Della (Williams) Wendel, was born on April 10, 1951 in Huron, South Dakota. After graduating De Smet High School in De Smet, South Dakota with the class of 1970, Loren attended Lake Area Technical Trade School for Carpentry and moved to the Faribault area. He started working for a contractor in the Metro and later started his own business, Wendel Construction, in 1972. On June 9, 1973, Loren was united in marriage to Nina Peterson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Loren loved the carpentry field and thoroughly enjoyed all projects, especially shingling. He also had the privilege of working with his two sons, Chad and Brad who have now taken over for their dad. In his spare time, Loren loved to hunt, fish, collect cowboy related items and spend time with his family and friends.

Loren is survived by his wife, Nina of Morristown; his children and their families, Chad (Carrie) Wendel and their children, Savannah and Ben of Morristown, Brad (Crystal) Wendel and their children, Bayleigh and Ty of Faribault and Amy (John) Green and their children, Estae, Emma and Sophia of Owatonna; his mother, Della Wendel of De Smet, SD; his siblings, Darwin Wendel, Glen Wendel and Marcia (Lyle) Richards, all of SD and by nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Louie and by one niece, Angela Wendel.
