LINDA SUE NITZ, age 70 of Waseca died on March 18th at her home in Waseca surrounded by her family.
Born on July 1, 1946 in Burlington, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Irving and Alice (Ely) Rhodes.  She graduated from Janesville High School in Janesville, Wisconsin and attended Abilene Christian University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her B.S. in Education.  Linda married Dan Nitz on September 2, 1967 in Janesville, Wisconsin.   She worked in the Waseca School system as the Science Coordinator and as a substitute teacher.   Linda enjoyed homemaking, teaching Sunday school, sewing, crafts, and gardening. 
Linda was active in her community, serving as chair of the Waseca Area Foundation and served on the Band Boosters Board.   She was also an adult education volunteer, the Picture Person volunteer in the Waseca Schools, and the Waseca Contact volunteer.     Linda was a member of the Owatonna church of Christ where she was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years. Perhaps her most important accomplishments in life were having the ability to deal with significant health problems for over fifty years, facing each day with a smile and placing faith in her God in all things.
She is survived by her husband, Dan of Waseca; two daughters, Marnie (Philip) Walker of Searcy, AR and Mandy (Mark) Vagts of Waseca; and five grandchildren: Hope and Kristin Walker (Searcy, AR) and Summer, Cody and Savanna Vagts (Waseca). She is also survived by siblings, Jim (Sue Ellen) Rhodes of Keaau, HI, Fred (Lani) Rhodes of Fort Davis, TX, and Sheila (Neil) Swain of Edgewood, NM and several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Friday March 24 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. 
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday March 25 starting at 10:00 AM at the Farmamerica Center 2 miles west of Waseca on County Rd 2.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be given to either the MS Society, Helping Paws of Minnesota or the Waseca Area Foundation.
