Leona Marie McShane-McCarthy, age 104, of Waseca died peacefully on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at her home in Waseca.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, September 21, 2018, with a rosary beginning at 3:30 pm and a prayer service at 7 PM all at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca. Visitation continues for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to charity of donors choice.

Leona Marie was born on April 8, 1914, in Janesville to Paul and Julia (Schramski) Tetzloff. She attended Janesville High School, graduating in 1932. Following her education, she worked in Waseca. On May 3, 1941, Leona was united in marriage to Ambrose McShane at St. Anns Catholic Church in Janesville. Leona and Ambrose farmed in St. Mary Township, Waseca County and later in Meriden until retiring in 1980 and moved into Waseca. Leona and Ambrose enjoyed traveling to visit various relatives. Together they raised seven children and shared 42 years of marriage before Ambrose passed away on July 5, 1983. On July 31, 1992, Leona was united in marriage to Bob McCarthy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sharing 14 years together before Bob passed away on August 6, 2006.
Leona was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca where she was active in St. Agnes Circle, and WCCW. She was also a member of Waseca County Extension. Throughout her life she was an outstanding homemaker. She was a wonderful quilter and sewer, she would religiously tend to her flower and vegetable garden, canning and pickling her produce. Leona was sharp up until the end, reading the newspaper daily and always monitoring the weather. Leonas family fondly remembers her vibrant personality and great sense of humor. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Janice) of Owatonna; daughters: Joan McShane of Minneapolis, Marie (Bill) Berliner of Beaverton, OR, Helen McShane of Portland, OR, Susan McShane of Minneapolis, Lois (Bruce) Netjes of Twin Falls, ID, and Julie (Charles) Bosshardt of Owatonna; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; stepdaughters: Joan (Charlie) Evenson of Baxter, and Kathi (Joe) Porter of Oklahoma City, OK; brother-in-law, Frank (Susan) McShane of Edina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husbands; great granddaughter, Monnae Martin; siblings: George, Francis, Lee, and Joe Tetzloff and Marie Burbank.
