Larry V. 'Buzzy' Blasing April 23, 1947 - July 5, 2014

Larry V. "Buzzy" Blasing, age 67 of Janesville, passed away, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be held at the Janesville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30-11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.

Larry Victor, the son of Victor and Marcella (Santo) Blasing, was born on April 23, 1947 in Waseca, MN. He attended Waseca High School and graduated with the class of 1965. After high school Larry continued his work on the family farm and also helped his mother with her drapery business, Blasing Draperies. Later Buzzy stopped farming and rented their land to Cal Priem. During this time he worked at different jobs including Joachim''s Saw Mill in Owatonna and The Creamery in Otisco. Buzzy enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales and collected many items and antiques over the years. He prided himself in being able to make a good purchase at one of these sales. Over the years he was able to find different items for people at the different sales he would attend. Buzzy was an avid fisherman and fished all of the area lakes over the years. He also enjoyed playing cards and traveling. A highlight of everyday was having coffee and conversation with his friends at Expressway. He was a member of the Janesville/Smiths Mill Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his brother, Robert (Colleen) Blasing of Long Prairie, MN; by two nephews, Shawn (Sherri) Blasing of Mankato, MN and Adam Blasing of Mounds View, MN; by his niece, Beth (Tony) Gaertner of St. Paul, MN; by great nieces and nephews, Zach, Nick, Sam and Sarah Blasing and Eddie, PJ and Catie Gaertner and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his nephew, Bradley Blasing.
