Kim P. Kuosth, a Sudanese refugee in Faribault, MN, was killed in a car accident while driving to Mankato with friends on Thursday, January 21, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Richard Jorgensen, officiating. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Kim was born in an Ethiopia refugee camp on December 26, 1990. In 1992, his parents relocated their refugee stay to Kenya with Kim as a two year old baby. In 1993, the family applied for the refugee resettlement admission under the United Nation Authority in Kenya; when their refugee status was approved, they departed Nairobi to the United States on June 20, 1994. Their residency was designated to Fort Worth, TX under world relief assistance. Shortly after their stay, Kim started his education journey. He learned English quickly and became interpreter to his parents. In 1998, the family relocated to Tennessee and proceeded to Minnesota in 2001. Kim enrolled in Trinity Lutheran middle school and was admitted to high school thereafter. He graduated from Faribault High School last year in May 2009. Since childhood, Kim as a socialeable person who liked to socialize with people. He made friends easily. One of the moments to note was in Kenya. Sudanese refugees were having a party when Kim was a baby, he entered the party compound and starting dancing in the party where everyone in the audience began to give him gifts. That socialization remained with him until his untimely death on Thursday. Kim at one time worked at Subway and had just started college at South Central College in Faribault. Kim is survived by his parents, father Tut Kuosth and mother Nyamark Kekha; eight siblings, six brothers and two sisters. They are all living in Faribault with Dad as bread bearer working at the Turkey Store Company. All Sudanese are saddened and are mourning the loss in Faribault.
