Joyce Kaderlik February 14, 1924 - August 30, 2009

Joyce Smith Kaderlik, age 85 of Faribault, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 surrounded by her family at her daughter''s home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services. Parish prayers will be recited on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Joyce Cecelia Schuller, the daughter of August and Florence (Fitzsimmons) Schuller, was born on February 14, 1924 in Faribault. On August 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Joseph Smith at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Joyce graduated from nursing school in 1969 and worked for 28 years as a nurse at the Faribault Regional Center while raising their family. Joe preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1986. On Oct. 18, 1991 Joyce married Stanley Kaderlik and they enjoyed seven years together before Stan died on Nov. 30, 1998. Joyce was an active woman who enjoyed traveling, going to aerobic classes for over 20 years, swimming and working with her flower gardens. She also enjoyed entertaining and hosting parties for family and friends. Joyce was a member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church Rosary Society and had also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She is survived by seven children, Jerry Smith of St. Paul, MN, Joanna Angell of Faribault, Dianne (Stan) Roemhildt of Kilkenny, MN, Danny (Heidi) Smith of Maple Grove, MN, Mary Jo (Charlie) Meyer of Faribault, Colleen (Craig) Zahn of Faribault and Teresa Smith of Faribault; by 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren; by two sisters, Gloria Lawler of Fort Dodge, IA and Marion Burns of Fresno, CA; by three step children, Steve Kaderlik of Ironwood, MI, Mark (Dawn) Kaderlik of Faribault and Danny (Karen) Kaderlik of Vero Beach, FL; by 7 step grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her daughter, Laurie Smith, her son, Pat Smith, three brothers Jim, Chuck and Dan Schuller, her sister, Donna Simpson and by her step daughter, Diane Mador.
