Joseph A. LeMieux, age 94, of Faribault, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the District One Hospital in Faribault following a sudden illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Joseph Alec was born on October 18, 1918 in Faribault to Edmund and Leona (Duval) LeMieux. He was united in marriage to Maxine Caron on May 14, 1941 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Joe served in the U.S. Army during WWII, entering in January of 1941 and honorably discharged in September of 1945. He worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for Gray Construction for 30 years and with Faribault Transportation for 10 years. Joe took great pride in his woodworking projects, lawn, and garden. His woodworking craftsmanship can be seen in many homes in Faribault. Joe also enjoyed feeding and watching birds. Joe and Maxine square danced for 47 years, taking them to many U.S. states and Mexico. They also enjoyed camping in the summer and spent 25 years wintering in Pharr, TX. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Maxine; children, Karen (Ron) Erickson of Sister Bay, WI, Kevin LeMieux of Watertown, SD, and Keith LeMieux of Faribault; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillian Jeno (Albert), Cecile Parkos (George), and Adelphine Tousignant (Eugene); and five brothers, Edward (Genevieve),

Ralph (Betty), Isidore (Bertha), Albert (Harriet), and Philip in infancy.
