John R. Heine July 30, 1922 - October 18, 2014

John R. Heine, age 92, of Faribault, MN, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Sterling House of Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

John Robert was born on July 30, 1922 in Owatonna, MN, to Alfred H. and Muriel (Liebe) Heine. He graduated from Faribault High School and attended St. Olaf College for two years. During WWII he worked in the shipyards in California as a journeyman electrician and returned to Faribault and operated Heine''s Lake Drive Grocery for several years. John was united in marriage to Anna Mae Gustafson on November 19, 1946 at St. Patrick''s Church in Shieldsville, MN. John had farmed in Shieldsville Township near Cedar Lake and later worked in the office at McQuay''s until he started Heine Insurance in 1968, working until 2003. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife to various destinations across the United States. They developed and plotted lots on the west shore of Cedar Lake. Anna Mae preceded him in death on April 24, 1998. John enjoyed his time on Cedar Lake, boating, fishing and having fun. He liked the outdoors, visiting with family and friends, going out to eat, and watching western movies. His life was best described by his favorite saying, "You can''t beat fun".

He is survived by his son, Robert (Pamela) Heine of Morristown; daughter-in-law, Georgieann Heine of Morristown; sisters, Rosalie (Steve) McCarthy of Morristown, and Peggy Cocharan of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Anna M. (Scott) Heine-Nehs, William Heine, Thomas (Anna) Heine, Anita Heine, Jessica Heine, and Rebecca (John) Heine- Steinbauer; step-grandchildren, Heidi Markham and Shelby Buker; 16 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
