John L. Britton October 24, 1928 - October 12, 2014

John L. Britton, age 85 of Waseca, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca, with the Rev. Gregory Leif, officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to services. A parish prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.

John Lister was born on October 24, 1928 to Lister Harold and Margaret (Root) Britton in Alton Township, Waseca County, MN. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1947. On November 27, 1950, John married Rosemary Harguth at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in rural Waseca County. John farmed in the Waseca area all of his life. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary Britton of Waseca; five children, James (Bonnie) Britton of Waseca, Barbara (Ronald) Sennert of Linn Grove, IA, Paul (Denise) Britton of Waseca, Dave (DeeAnn) Britton of Waseca and Patricia (Ronald) Buehler of Waseca; by 14 grandchildren, Jason (Sharon) Britton, Brian (Amy) Britton, Christina, Nicholas (Mary), Katherine Sennert, Angela (Matt) Huset, Michael (Emily) Britton, Kevin (Kalie Beukelman) Britton, Amanda Britton, Cassandra (Nic) Meister, Calicia Carson, Austin, Alec and Malaina Buehler; 10 great grandchildren; by three sisters-in-law, Ann Wheeler, Gertrude Donelan, Marjorie Britton; by his brother-in-law, Lowell Denn and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Lister Harold and Margaret (Root) Britton; two brothers, Robert (Iola) Britton and Joseph Britton; seven sisters, Katherine and Oscar

Barthelmehs, Jeanette and Phillip Hegseth, Helen Denn, Reeve and Gordon Cumming, Agnes and Bill Haag, Beulah and Gordon Johnson and Nancy Auspus and by two brothers-in-law, Robert Wheeler and Gerald Donelan.
