Jerry Ranslow May 27, 1952 - March 12, 2012

Jerry D. Ranslow, age 59, of Faribault, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with the Rev. Craig Breimhorst, officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Jerry Daniel, the son of Clifford and Marion (Brush) Ranslow, was born on May 27, 1952 in Clinton, IA. He attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1970. After high school Jerry worked at the Faribault Regional Center and also started taking classes at Mankato State University and eventually earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. He continued to work at FRC and later took a job at Awah-Ching Center in Walker, MN. During his years in Walker, Jerry was united in marriage to Linda Hansen on March 14, 1993 in Bemidji, MN. They lived in Nevis until the Awah-Ching Center was closed and then moved to St. Peter, MN and Jerry worked at the St. Peter Correctional Facility as a Social Worker. He retired due to a disability in December of 2010. Music was a big part of Jerry''s life. He played key board, bass guitar and was a lead singer in different bands over the years. From this came enjoyable time spent with his daughter singing karaoke together. Jerry also enjoyed fishing and watching movies. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ranslow of Faribault; by his daughter, Danielle Ranslow of Faribault; by three brothers, John (Ann) Ranslow of Morristown, Jack (Kay) Ranslow of Faribault and Randy (Linda) Ranslow of Sacramento, CA; by his sister in law, Jennifer (Dennis) Eslick of Cedar Falls, IA; by his brother in law, Larry Hansen of West Des Moines, IA; by a special friend, Fran Malecha of Faribault and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Judith Miller, his brother, Richard C. Ranslow and by his father and mother in law, John and JoAnn Hansen.
