Jerry McCarthy, age 77, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, after a 10 year battle with cancer.
Funeral Service will be 2:30 PM on Monday, June 24, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church on German Lake (22693 German Lake Road, Cleveland, MN 56017). Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-6 PM on Sunday, June 23, at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Memorials are preferred to St. Pauls Lutheran Church on German Lake.

Jerry Thomas McCarthy was born on June 25, 1942, in Bradley, Wisconsin to Henry and Mildred (Gaedtke) McCarthy. He was baptized as a child at First Baptist Church in Rhinelander, WI. Jerry attended Tomahawk High School, graduating with the class of 1960. He furthered his education at University of Wisconsin Madison, graduating in 1965, with an Electrical Engineering Degree. He worked in Milwaukee for some time before moving to Minnesota where he worked for E.F. Johnson in Waseca. Jerry later worked in Rochester for Telex and finished his career in Faribault where he worked for TruVue, retiring in 2007. While working at E.F Johnson he met the love of his life, Virginia Fell, due to his infectious laugh. They were united in marriage at the Gardens of the University of Minnesota Waseca. Together they made their home in Janesville where they shared nearly 40 years of marriage.
Jerry was very active in the Janesville Community as he was a member of the Janesville Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award, served on the JWP School Board, he was an Assistant Boy Scout Master and was always active in his church as his faith was very important to him. He was also a member of SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) and frequently volunteered at Farmamerica. Jerry loved fishing, riding motorcycle, going to races especially his twice yearly trip with his son, Hank, to Road America. He also enjoyed target shooting, puzzles, Thursday Night Cards, and traveling, especially to Duluth with Virginia. Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor, laid back attitude and his fun-loving personality. He will be dearly missed.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; children: Hank (Ashley) McCarthy of Le Center, Jenny (Tiffany Thompson) Evans of San Diego, CA, and Jeremy Wilker of Golden Valley; grandchildren: Bella Evans, and Trixie and Theo Wilker; brother: Jack (Nancy) McCarthy of Tomahawk, WI; brother-in-law: Clark (Kathy) Fell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister-in-law, Kieth and Faye McCarthy.
