Janice C. Cowdin, age 73 of Madison Lake, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church in Cleveland, with Pastor Shelly Olson, officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services at church.

Janice Carol was born on January 1, 1939 to Perry and Alma (Menten) Foster in Mankato, Minnesota. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1956. On April 6, 1963 she was united in marriage to Dean E. Cowdin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Jan and Dean lived in Janesville until 1966, then moved their family to Madison Lake. In 1971 they moved to Mankato. During much of her career Jan was employed with American State Bank of Mankato. In 1999 they moved back to the Madison Lake Area, and she took on a new position in the finance department with Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake. In 2002 she retired and worked part-time for Phil Mart in Waterville. Jan was a longtime member of Our Savior''s Lutheran Church in Cleveland. She enjoyed gardening and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dean of Madison Lake; her son, Brad (April) Cowdin of Marion, IA; five grandchildren; her brother, Perry Foster of Waterville; her sister, Fern Renken of Waterville; her sisters-in-law, Jody (Steve) Schroeder of Waseca, Carol (Fred) Glade of Hastings, and Ann (Jason) Gerdts of Janesville; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Schafer of Madison, WI, and Butch (Gail) Cowdin of Bella Vista, AR; her step brother-in- law, David (Sally) Skirlin of Albert Lea; by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
