Imelda R. Ludwig October 23, 1931 - June 11, 2015

Imelda R. Ludwig, age 83, of rural Dundas, MN, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center in Northfield, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault, MN. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Imelda Rose was born to Leo and Irene (Hoffman) Schanno on October 23, 1931 in Hampton, MN at home across from the Catholic Church. She attended St. Mathias School through 8th grade, and then went to high school at Bethlehem Academy. During high school she lived with the Landkamer family for two years and then the Nelsons. Imelda worked at the ice cream store in the building south of Burkhartzmeyers until graduating in 1950. She then was employed at Riverside Plumbing until her marriage to James Ludwig on September 3, 1952. They moved to Des Moines, WA when James was in the Army from Nov. 1953 - Jan. 1955. They returned to the family farm with Mike and Mary Ludwig, until Mike and Mary moved to town in 1957 and James and Imelda continued operating the Century Farm. Imelda was a housewife, mother, and assisted James with the farming for most of her life. She also worked at Ryt-Way in Northfield from 1976-1977. James preceded her in death on November 25, 2000.

Imelda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and could feed any size crew on short notice. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins, solving Soduko puzzles, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She belonged to the Card-n-Clatter Club for many years and participated in bowling leagues. Imelda enjoyed old time music and watching game shows. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Catholic Aid and St. Anne''s Society.

Imelda''s life memory will continue through her children, Dennis (Mary) Ludwig of Rochester, MN, Douglas (Bonnie) Ludwig of Faribault, Donna (Kim) Morelan of Nerstrand, MN, David (Debbie) Ludwig of Dundas, Duane (Diana) Ludwig of Nerstrand, DeAnn (Andy) Miller of Western Springs, IL, Dan (Amy) Ludwig of Dundas; 16 grandchildren, Jill (Matt) Walker, Sara (John) Milewski, Chad (Michelle) Ludwig, Kelly (Abby) Morelan, Kris (Amanda) Morelan, Brennan (Jen) Ludwig, Brittney (Erik) Sonstegard, Molly (Derek) LaVan, Allyson (Scott) Klavetter, Anthony Ludwig, Ashley Ludwig, Brandon Ludwig, Matt Ludwig, Andy Miller Jr., Bryce Miller, and Blake Miller; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Anita Eckert; brother, Mike Schanno; sisters-in-laws, Louise Ludwig, Lorraine Ludwig, Agnes Hole, and Mary Schanno; brother-in-law, Doug Young; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents Leo and Irene; siblings, Monica Rehder, Mary Young, Mel Schanno, and Leo Schanno Jr.; and in-laws, Barney Ludwig, Hank and Katherine Ludwig, Pat and Adeline Ludwig, Fran Ludwig, Susan and Edward Schmitz, Betty and Leo Poels, Roland Eckert, and Kenneth Hole.

A special thank you to the caregivers from Rice County Public Health, and Northfield Long Term Care Center, for their exceptional care provided to Imelda.

Memorials may be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Bethlehem Academy, or the choice of the donor in memory of Imelda.
