Gordon "Gordy" Jandro, age 81, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Gordon Raymond Jandro, the son of Raymond and Catherine (Lonien) Jandro, was born on June 10, 1930 in Walcott Township, Rice County, Minnesota. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault and attended country school in Walcott Township. On April 7, 1956, Gordy was united in marriage to Agnes Deal at the St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. She later preceded him in death on October 21, 2005. Gordy worked for James Parkos on the farm before entering the service in 1952. After serving in the Korean War, Gordy was honorably discharged on December 15, 1953. Gordy later worked for Alley Construction Company for nine years. He also owned and operated a milk truck from 1963 to 1965, hauling for the Webster Creamery. In 1965, Gordy began his twenty- eight year employment at B.H. Heselton in Faribault and retired in 1993. He loved his tractors, camping and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family. Gordy was a member of the Operating Engineer Union Local for 24 years and Divine Mercy Catholic Church. He is survived by his children, Julie (Jason) Anderson of Faribault, Karen Schwen of Faribault, Jeff (Linda) Jandro of Lonsdale and Amy (Tom) Stadler of Faribault; his 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his siblings, Leila Parkos of Faribault, Mary Ann Burke of Faribault, Marjorie (Wally) Matthies of Texas and David (Maxine) Jandro of Faribault and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Agnes in 2005, his son Kevin James Jandro and by his siblings, Gerald Jandro, Eileen O''Connor and Nancy Landherr.
