Gladys A. Meyer, age 89, of Rochester and formerly of Faribault, died on Friday, December 19, 2008, with her daughter Linda at her side at the Sunrise Cottages in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Luke''s Church in Faribault, with Rev. Aaron Brockmeier, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Gladys Althea Meyer, the daughter of Peter Sr. and Clara (Achilles) Meyer, was born on July 27, 1919 in Faribault. She worked as a daycare provider for 40 years and loved all of the children she cared for. At the nursing home in Rochester, she was a befriender, set up bingo, and assisted in the dining room. She loved to paint and embroidery. Gladys enjoyed time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her church and faith were very important to her. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Giles of Rochester; three grandchildren, Bobby and Jim Giles, and Jody (Jeremy) Hemmingson; two great grandchildren, Brandon and Elizabeth Hemmingson; sister, Marie Aube of Faribault; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irene Meyer and Dorothy Duchene; three brothers, Peter Jr., Harold, and Omer Meyer; brothers- in-law, Ray Aube and Florent Duchene; sister-in-law, Marion Meyer; and grand nephew, Ray Aube III.
