Gladys M. (Gehring) Barden, age 83 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Waseca Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Gladys Marion was born on March 14, 1928 to Ewald and Irene (Roesler) Gehring in Wilton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She attended Waseca County Dist. #18 School in Wilton Towhship, and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1946. On August 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to John Vincent Barden in Waseca. Early on Gladys worked for Carl''s Caf in Waseca. She was a homemaker, and known as the "neighborhood" mom. After they retired, Gladys and Vince spent over 20 years in Colorado before returning to Waseca in 1994. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Sweet-Sommers V.F.W. Auxiliary #1642 in Waseca. Gladys thoroughly enjoyed the years her and Vince spent in Colorado. She is survived by her sons Greg (Cindy) Barden and Phil (Monica) Barden, of Waseca, and her daughter Rosemary ( Ben) Ankrum of Apple Valley, CA; by 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; by her sisters Elaine Kramer and Helen Weckwerth of Waseca, and Phyllis Nelson of New Richland; by her sisters-in- law Mary Cleary of Rochester, Martha Myszka of St. Paul, Peg Ward of Minnetonka, Mary Barden of Rochester, and Gloria Possehl of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Vince on July 20, 2008; by her foster brother Walter Possehl; by her brothers-in-law Francis Kramer, Ivan Weckwerth, Milton Nelson, Jack Cleary, Walter Myszka, Ray Ward, Jerry Barden, and Richard Barden.
